Whic VAG COM cable for 2001 Fabia

Featured Replies

Having trawled the many posts regarding steering problems with early Fabias I've narrowed it down to a steering angle sensor. Before spending ~£100 for the part I'd like to be reasonably sure that it is the problem though! I'm new to trying diagnostics and am a bit confused over which cable to get. Will one like this be ok for a 2001 Fabia? http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VAGUSB.html

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks

They are a shop so what harm could it do, you could just send it back it it doesn't work

(for shareware access on the old vaccom I guess). I don't think anyone could answer that here except them.

I'd recommend though that there are plenty of people with vagcom who might help you, so rather than trying to get involved in something you know little (with potentially the wrong equiptment) perhaps you could instead seek assistance from someone with the official vagcom (now known as VCDS) to help you diagnose and they might only expect some beers in return or something ?

The proper software VCDS and cable is what many use and may be safer they know what they are doing, probably a better bet than just trying to stab in the dark and many poor users have caused irreversible damage to their car because they get click happy with crap that came from ebay etc.

It seems initially expensive but if you see yourself doing diagnostics for a long time you might want to consider the official cable ?

Yes, it's what I use on my cars. VCDSA LITE will work with it, but it is limited in its functions.

Ok, thanks for the tips. All I really want to do with it is check if there's a fault code due to a faulty steering angle sensor, so I guess that cable will do the job.
