Hi, as I had previously with my Favorit I'm getting spools of fiberous material peeling out of the exhaust. Have given it a short back and sides this morning and assume it's coming from the back box? + there's not much you can do about it. Just watching out for people flashing up behind me now and stanley knife at the ready!

try and pull as much out as you can (wear gloves its horrible stuff)

It may make the exhaust noisy but apart from that not really, you may find that the mpg improves a bit as the exhaust gets unclogged.

Ok cheers. Pulled a pretty large amount out this morning but so far, touch wood, doesn't sound much different. Hope that's it as it's a pain having to keep trimming!

Hi, Checked with local VW specialist and definitely not cat related, more likely to be back box.

Def NOT the Cat - the Cat has a solid matrix there is no way for it to break down. It is Def the fiberglass packing from the back box seen this many many times the tube that runs though the box has rotted and the pressure of the gases is pushing the packing out. it will get noiser and you will find the box is probably rotten else where and you will need to replace it for the mot.

Hi, that's pretty much in line what I was thinking. Since last removal it's stopped coming out, had same problem on my Favorit a few years back. As you say may need to replace at some stage. Thanks.
