Door control unit

Featured Replies

Ive got the problem with the corroded pins in my drivers door control unit. Do i need to change the whole motor assembly or can i get a control unit from a breakers? Looks like you can seperate control unit? Does it just clip off motor? Thanks

Did you ever find out about this. I have the same problem and got a window regulator and motor including the control unit from a scap yard in apparently very good condition, no signs of corrosion at all. Instead of changing the whole mechanism I just uncliped the control unit and swaped it over, the only connection with the motor is via 2 edge connectors. However, bearing in mind that I probably have a break in the wiring (only 6v on the red/yellow pin ??? I think this should be 12v) nothing that previously worked (ie. door open sensor, control of passenger mirror, control of the non drivers electric windows ) works with the new unit. As I say it looks in exellent condition, it is off a '99 and mine is '03 but I don't understand why these functions do not work. I am wondering if a new door control module requires any re-programming, could it be that a new unit is simply not recognised? Any info welcomed.

As you mentioned you will probs find many breaks in the wires as they pass through the door pillar. Very common. When i swapped mine it was the same as it was before and no coding required. Mine actually turned out to be corroded pins on the connector that goes to the loom, pins had rotted in the reg plug and made its way to the other end and rotted those pins aswell. Got a loom from a breakers and have just replaced that again recently. When i took the loom out 6 wires had snapped!! Ive now got another loom but re furbed it, renewed most of the wires before fitting. If this one fails it will be a new one but at about £130 they arnt cheap!
