Noise from NSF

Featured Replies

I recently changed my wheel bearing on the nsf as it was rumbling quite loud and was producing a sound you would expect to hear from a prop aeroplane. Now I have replaced the wheel bearing the sound has dissapeared I hope. However, when I am doing speeds between 40 and 60 mph the prop aeroplane sound seems to be there still but only slightly.

I am thinking it could be a number of things and just wanted someone elses opnion. Could it be drive shaft even though they usually make a knocking sound when worn, gear box or gears, clutch even though I had a new one fitted last year or could it be a case of the tyres I have are slightly worn or maybe slighty out of shape thus creating this prop aeroplane sound?

if is the drive shaft, the noise dissapears when you lift the throtle

otherwise is another bearing

Sounds funny, but i had something similar on my old cavalier, changed front two bearings, still noise turned out to be a rear bearing, but n oise/vibrations went through car to front.

Yeah, that happens quite a lot. Obviously the one you replaced was a problem, but it sounds like you might have another on it's way!

check your NSR tyre, mine make a noise sim to a knackered wheel bearing when my tyre wears(looks alright on the outside, worn on the inside edge)

Hi guys thanks for your response. Having gone through all the possibilties it does seem that the cause of the noise is uneven tyres. Tread depth is ok so I might as well just run them down and then replace them.
