VCDS! For real.....?

Featured Replies

I've been toying with the idea of getting VCDS but what puts me off is the prohibitive price. I fully understand it's worth due to the amount of research Ross Tech plough in to the system. I would never entertain getting a cheap Chinese copy for that very reason, the last I want is from them to go under due to spurious sellers flooding the market with carp......

That said, browsing the bay, I came across this last night, can it be the genuine article at that starting price???

Opinions from VCDS owners or anyone in the know would be appreciated.

Genuine cables don't come with software at all. The software is normally downloaded off the web.

Anything which says, "do not connect to Internet" is fake.

FAKE! Basically new, you'll never find the real thing @ < £250. :)

"PLEASE INSTALL THE SOFTWARE WE PROVIDED ONLY!(ON CD) do not connect to the internet AND DO NOT UPDATE THE SOFTWARE!!!!"

I can confirm that these sellers have made a unit that looks amazingly like ours. Note the screws and the raised grip bumps and the lack of a serial number. These are further clues that it is a clone.

I asked the same question here and the responses were the same, you seem to be very well thought of Bruce.

As I said on the other forum, there is NO way I would entertain buying clone cables as I have already benefited from the extensive R&D by Ross Tech from VCDS owners who have performed coding etc for beer tokens, long may it continue!

I read that part after I posted, if I had seen it before hand I wouldn't of have bothered......perhaps the seller needs reporting? Oooops, already done it! :giggle:

As to genuine cables, how's this for a price?

Hi pagey, I've recently got a cable that meets my needs, pm me if you need advice
