Yellow Octavia vRS, Best Detailing Products

Featured Replies

Hi all, so one reason im buying a Skoda is the finish on the paintwork, I have always noticed they are pretty glossy when driving past and seeing them out and about.

It looks like I will be buying a 56plate yellow vRS, just looking for a bit of advice and what best products to use on this colour to make it look top notch.

Also seeing as its second hand am I right in starting with a full clay and polish to strip all current products, any products worth mentioning here (I have the Meg clay kit already, will this be a good starting point)

Does the paint finish look more matt or glossy with this yellow as I have not seen one up close to be able to tell but from a distance it looks matt and pastel like, im assuming a glossy wax would make for a nice change.

So what do you use on your yellow Skodas.

Claying, then polishing to remove or fill scratches will vastly improve the finish to the yellow but to get the true gloss level your mentioning a machine polish is a must............ :hi:

This is the only yellow motor I have detailed, fairly difficult colour to detail to be honest, very similar to white IMHO but I think the results speak for themselves:

Hi so thanks for the links I read all the way through that the other day, very nice results.

Only problem though im getting a black Octy now so need to find out whats best to use on it, im thinking Poor boys black hole and EX-P sealant, I went for the synthetic sealant cause I dont want it washing off too quickly. IS this the last step to protection, anything else go over the top of it?

Here are a few different products used on Black MK1 vRS's:

I think the main thing will be the condition of the paintwork as stated before, ensuring it's clean, clayed and ideally machined will give you the best possible base and then Black Hole and EX-P can be used to good effect, not a massive fan here of the brand of the products but you wouldn't need to put anything on top of those...........

OK, not sure how confident I am on machine polishing, I use a lot of power tools at work which need a steady hand and good even pressure etc

Also dont have my own machine polisher but my dad has one, its really big with like a 9 inch head on it, last I saw it he had a big mop looking disc on it, looked way too rough for paint correction.

I think ill have to read up on this a little better, I have always washed and polished my cars but never waxed or machine polished or even clayed them before until recently.

Thanks for your help Baker21
