Greenline : MPG from first tank

Featured Replies

Well it had to happen at some point i suppose!

I filled the tank up today. The details are below.

I've driven 571.2 miles and just had to top the tank up with 49.94 litres of derv.

The dash was showing an MPG of 56.5.

The real brim to brim was 52.02 MPG - this was 70% urban/local and 30% M56/M6.

So can the fuel computer be callibrated ?

Is it to early to callibrate it as this is the first tank of fuel used?

That sounds a reasonable mpg for your first tank of fuel, together with the predominantly urban mileage.

I believe the computer can be calibrated using a VCDS (VAG-COM) device. To be honest, you will get accurate mpg if you adopt the brim to brim method and keep records of fuel expenditure on either spiritmonitor.de or fuelly.com.

At almost 15,000 miles, my Greenline combi is currently averaging 62.60mpg, based mainly on motorway/A roads.

I was quite happy with the first MPG result. The computer is showing 59.9 MPG at the moment after 280 miles on the 2nd tank so I'm expecting an improvement.

I've always used the brim to brim method as i very often use the same pump at the same petrol station so things tend to be accurate.

Looks like my first goal is to get into the 60's then !

Good results guys, obviously I am nowhere near you but am encouraged by my MPG performance over the past few tanks. I can certainly feel that the engine is beginning to loosen up (just short of 10k).

Just filled up again. The brim to brim worked out at 53.6 this time. The dash was showing average of 54.9 this time.
