Superb now lowered on Eibachs

Featured Replies

Had it done last week (see link: http://www.briskoda....e-service-ever/).

Remap and new clutch in a couple of weeks so I'll be posting some thoughts, but until then here are some pics…

The ride feels so much better. I did 150 miles yesterday around the M25 and various A and B roads and it just holds the car firmer with no, or very little, boat-like roll.

Obviously time will tell and I may well upgrade the shocks to Bilsteins eventually, but for now it's a big

I think the car looks 100% better, too. Silver definitely suits it

Awesome, what a beauty!

Cool looks, thumbs up!

What a lovely looking car.

It'll ride better on the Eibachs and it goes half way to curing the problem that the Superb came with wheels that looked too small for a car of that size.

Going down can only be a good thing............

Dirty mind you got there.......... :giggle:

Awesome! What a difference, mine's identical to yours, but looks like a 4x4 on ride height! Any thoughts who your gonna go to for a re-map? I'm waiting till I've done the cambelt later this year before I do mine.

Not in prison it's not.

It's all booked in next week at AMD Essex. They're the nearest to me and have a good reputation so was the only logical choice. Their website says it's £399 for the remap but it's actually £299. They claim a +40 bhp and extra 51lb ft, taking the car to 170bhp and 260lb ft :)

And a rolling road graph's included in the price

Looks great indeed.... What's the cost of fitting the springs?

Cheers,

Rob

Cheers Rob.

The cost was £299 for the springs, fitting and wheel alignment afterwards too. Not bad considering the Eibachs are about £200 just for the springs in most places.

EDIT: They also do H&R springs if you ask. These lower by 40mm rather than 30mm for the Eibachs. I chickened out of the 40mm drop though, but I think I got it right for my needs.

i have H&R springs with only a 30mm drop... Bilstein shocks.

Car's gone in to AMD today for it's new clutch and flywheel and a remap. I'm excited :)

*Fingers crossed*

Drove the car back this morning from AMD and the clutch/DMF feels so much better. I can't believe I put up with it for a year. It's proper smooth now and no judder.

Couldn't test the remap due to speed cameras every 200 yards and then North Circular traffic. But the weekend's nearly here

Let us know about the remap Jigger72. Also, if you would be so kind, could you post links (where did you buy the parts?) and a complete list of what you've had done to the car?

Much appreciated. Thanks. :-)

Hi Cown. All I've done is pretty much listed above, and all from AMD Technik, Essex:

http://www.amdessex.com

I'll post thoughts on the remap when I get the chance to have a blast.

My previous Octavia was a different matter, however - Superpro dogbone bush, Superpro wishbone bushes, Koni suspension, uprated brakes, Pipercross panel filter, Forge DV, Whiteline RARB, Angel Tuning remap.

I loved it and caught the modding bug, having never really been bothered about cars before. Damn this website

There's not really too much you can do to a Superb though so I might get a Cupra splitter and possibly upgrade the shock absorbers at a later date with some Bilsteins.

I'm also considering a little boot spoiler:

http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649

But that's about it. It's a proper family car now so I'll keep it simple

Hows the remap? Quite interested in how much quicker it feels...

DId you have it tested on a rolling road following the remap, do you have a new power curve?

I did and I do. I'll try and scan it and post up the results.

The weird thing was it was making 146 bhp before the map??? It's only supposed to be 130 bhp.

Anyway, the map showed 168 bhp and 270ish lb ft, but this was unadapted so once the ECU gets used to it, it should be a bit more.

I haven't had the chance to go on a decent run and test it yet though :(

It's normal that the engine puts out more power than what it says on the papers. Specially on the PD engines.

If this is the case, shouldn't I get some compensation, seeing as they've only upped it by about 25bhp when the ad says +40bhp? I'm a bit miffed now. £300 should get me at least the stated +40 so I should be on 186 bhp.

I'm afraid no. They've remapped your car so that it lasts forever. If you chip the 1.9 TDI more than 170 bhp the chance of a broken clutch/turbo etc. is 100%. If you want more power you'll have to upgrade the clutch and flywheel to comprehend more than 270 lb ft. The turbo will hit it's max at around 200 bhp. And then again it will die quickly driving with that kind of power, so that will need to be upgraded also... around the carousel goes.

The map you have now is almost equal to mine. It has lasted for 9 years with no faults to the engine and still the original clutch.
