Fabia II Elegance Estate - 1.6 CRtdi 90ps - Any Owners?

Featured Replies

I have been contacted by a family friend looking at a potential purchase asking about any pro's and con's with the above model.

What do you know? Good, Bad, indifferent?

Let me know please.

Things I can think of:

  1. DPF re-gen can be a PITA dependant on driving style
  2. Projector headlamps are poo. (have these on my Roomster) and bulbs are a challenge to change

TIA

I've just got rid of my elegance 2 fabia 1.6crti hatch , brill engine no issues with dpf not sure the 1.9 tdi has dpf ?

As far as the re-gen of the DPF goes, don't see what the fuss is ?

Every other week, when the engine is up to temp, drive in 3rd (@ 4k revs) for about 10 minutes. Job done.

It's a little weird revving the car like this I know, took me a bit to get used to it, but in over 20k miles (Ford C-Max tdci) absolutley no issues and zero soot.

Do you mean the 1.6 TDi CR 90PS or the older 1.9 TDI PD 105PS?

They didn't do a 1.9tdi 90PS.

Cheers

New CR 90ps 1.6tdi - Thread title now amended

I've got the 105ps rather than 90ps.

Overall I'm happy with the car.

The most important thing is to consider is the normal journey pattern.

My commute to work is 11miles each way so the engine warms up every journey and DPF regens occur every 250-300miles. If a regen does not finish it continues on the next trip.

I've never had the dashboard indicator come on requiring me to go on a longer run specifically so the a DPF regen cycle can occur.

If the many of the journeys will be much shorter unless every 200miles or so there will be a journey with at least 20miles on fast open roads runs just to clear the DPF may be required. Hence a 85ps petrol would be more suitable.

The projector headlights are not great not helped by some cars leaving the factory with the beam set low.

I have fitted Osram Nightbreakers @ £15 a pair in the dipped beam and made sure the beam is adjusted up to near the top MOT pass limit which makes then reasonable rather than poor.
