Whats all the removal and bypass stuff

Featured Replies

What the devil is all this hosework and thingermajigs people delete or bypass

What is it

Where is it

What does it do ?

Who does it lol

And :( how much

Does it cause issues if remapped (revo stage 2)

Cheers guys.......... Curious

Soz i posted a link from SCN and just noticed most the pics are dead.

The pipework people get rid of has a few different things it does.

For example the SAI pumps air into the engine by sucking it in from the airbox and pushing it through the EGR valve, which in turn helps the car warm up quicker to reduce emissions

Then the n112 and others bits work alongside that and they are ecu based controls for the waste gate.

By removing them you simplify the engine bay. Eliminating known items that go wrong or can cause issues. It also helps redirect pipework so it more direct.

As far as I am aware, it doesn't effect anything and there is no performance gain or loss so it won't effect your mapping.

Is it more so tunning places like shark and that rtech etc that knows this removal thing?

If you ever plan to sell your car Lloyd I'd think long and hard about removing all that stuff.

Yours is such a nice low mileage model (15k is it?) whoever buys it is going to want it in showroom condition not with half the engine bay missing.

Your choice at the end of the day though

That much gone is it ..... Hmmm maybe i'll just leave it unless it gives trouble

I feel guilty when i get close to selling him lol so he stays lurking in the garage

Im over 15k now tho :D

It's an engine bay OCD thing!

If you're not having any problems I'd leave it as is. The more standard the car is, the more money it's worth.

Ooops i think im past that

I sold all my standard stuff :(

When i started i was kean to sell and recycle funds, i tend to think now and horde standard stuff.... Bit late tho, air box, suspension intercooler :( even exhaust

****!!!

Im trying to use it more otherwise whoever buys it gets all the benifits :( i keep it new and unused and sell fir buttons and they get a nearly new condition car

Everyone keeps saying to keep it

have a look at Rob's site http://www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk/ he has done most of them. The biggest gain from doing these types of things to the engine is that you are less likely to have VAC/Boost leaks from the "millions of miles" of pipes tha VAG seems to like to put in that are not really needed except to improve emissions, which with a stage 2 map you dont really care much about anyway. If you were going to sell you would need to remove the map etc anyway unless you were selling to a like minded enthusiast who would see ther benefit of removing all that cr4p

Blimey buddy, where you been last few years this has been covered a lot....

In a nutshell the SAI, N249, N112, EVAP, Charcoal Canister are all interlinked and all part of emisions control. They perform making emisions more efficent and something that US regulations are mandatory. All those items are controlled via the ECU.

The engine requires a relatively rich mixture for smooth operation on cold start. For this reason, the ECU operates in open loop mode with a fixed fuel map for the first 20 to 120 seconds of engine operation until the oxygen sensors have heated to operating temperature

The SAI achieves efficent initial warm up for that small period of start up and pre heat the cat.

The N249 is controlling the DV through the ECU

The N112 is linked to the SAI , that controls the combi valve, which opens the head for the Secondary Air Pump to be able to pump air into the exhaust on engine start up.

The Charcoal canister take fuel vapour and refeeds it back into engine

The Evap and breather system are interconnected to these devices via hoses an hard lines.

When working fine these are all ok.

The reason for removing and deleting these are:

- They can go wrong and cause poor running

- As they are feed with lots of hoses this could incure a leak somewhere down the line and again cause poor unning

- Clean up the Engine bay area(seem more favorite than actually going wrong (although the SAI is worst offender)

- mapped engines are better running mechanical DV from inlet vacuum

sure someone will add to this or diss it...

I have done the following also in order or listing:

Remove SAI, N249, N112 (sorry links in this one still broken) hoping to fix soon Rob has this covered though

OCC DIY Install

http://www.briskoda....-guide-install/

Evap, Vac hard lines, Breather simplification

Charcoal canister Delete

All these mods can be done by a reasonable guy like you....

Note as you have a REVO map that software can not map out any cell codes thrown up on removing those items(i have asked this already)

With your car Lloyd tend to agree maybe to keep it std. Depends if you are intending to always keep it.

Is it possible to map out cell codes with the revo stage 2 software?

Lol cheers bud, awesome post... I get drawn to wheel , stereo or style threads mate, like a moth :)

Im also crap and forget stuff

I think i should keep my car abit.... Couple more years maybe??????

Can You map these cell codes out on other Maps then? like say shark?

Yep Shark mapped out my SAI and decat O2 sensor codes.

Is it possible to map out cell codes with the revo stage 2 software?

No, not with REVO mapping as mentioned. I assume their mappiing is fixed parameters and they have or will not entertain changing these.

This is why folks fit inline resistors in place to fool the ECU in thinking the parts are still connected. This seems to work for all the removed parts except the SAI. I have to reset my cell every 5 start ups for SAI code but now leave it and reset monthly to check no adidtional faults are thrown up

Can You map these cell codes out on other Maps then? like say shark?

Yes you can, Shark Map out these very well for example, as Rob has stated also.

Suggest folks ask the mapper prior to going ahead to be sure.
