is this a problem?

Featured Replies

won this off ebay as I'm trying to get 4 spiders to make a set, this arrived today and i didn't notice it in the picture before but now i have it and inspected it there is a flat spot on the lip wheres its been kerbed or knocked. i know a place that should be able to sort it but unsure whether it will be just face damage.

Its cosmetic only that mate so wont cause a tyre to deflate etc. If the guys you know are any good they will sort that out easy enuf. I got a flat spot out of a set of wheels I owned a couple of years back its not to difficult.

is it even worth sorting, if it won't cause any vibrating or anything then i will just get them powder coated and the flat area filled over to look round, its barely anything in all fairness but i would rather get it sorted if i have to, if i don't then straight to the metal coaters it will go. (my metal coaters repair cosmetic damage, they cannot straighten the wheel) hence i would need to take it elsewhere first, probably cost £25 to knock straight but to me it looks like a kerb has just ground it down to a flat finish and not actually damaged the wheel

I bet you won't even notice it once the tyres on it. I had a very similar, if not worse flat spot and I had no troubles with vibration etc... If it was me though, the alloy isn't on the car yet and without a tyre on, I'd get it down to a refurb place to fix it up.

Plastic mallet is what I used and just smack it straight alloy is harder than plastic so wont mark :)

No way of knowing for sure until you try to put a tyre on it. I'd say if it was just the lip it'll be fine. Seems to me it's a little heavier than that though. Difficult to see on a tiny picture.
