Pioneer HU Question

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just a quickie.

I have just received a Pioneer HU, and i've quickly tested it out, and it is absolutley pukka.

I've connected it up using the ISO connector in the Skoda, one of which is brown the other is black, which I know is because one of the wires is swapped around ??

Is it safe to connect the radio up like this temporarily ? I have an ISO adapter coming my way very soon, so i'll use that, but driving in silence is getting boring!

Also, can someone clarify the issue with the Ariel?

The ISO Adapter i've got coming had (>12V ARIEL ADAPTOR) in the description, just wondered what this meant in real terms.

Thanks

My pioneeer deh5600mp plugged straight into the skoda plugs as they are standard iso,the only thing i had to do was switch the +12v and ignition +12v round so the unit wouldn't lose it's memory.Yes you will need a antenna booster as aftermarket radios don't have them built in like the factory unit,if you don't reception will be very poor.

that's fine, i've got an all in one "swap the +12v and +12v ignition" and antenna booster in one coming my way tomorrow

outstanding.

in fact i think i have the same HU

I've got a Pioneer MP3 HU aswell. My radio reception is crap even using an antenna booster thingy. I wonder whether I've installed it correctly. It comes with aflying lead iirc but I can't remember where I plugged it in...

The flylead should be plugged into the blue wire on the pioneer harness, this is the system remote +12v feed.

I thought I did that but better check. Oh well, more fun for the weekend :( cheers anyway.
