Live Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Featured Replies

Hi all

If anyone has Sky Digital TV then be sure to tune into Motors TV (CH 416) at 4 pm British time for live coverage of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its on till 6pm , but (since 1st July) you need to supscribe to the Sky world package to view it (ie no longer 'free to air' if you dont have Sky subscription)

Enjoy! ...and dont forget the BTCC and support package from Croft live on the same channel from 12 noon tomorrow!

Ah, but Motors TV is still free to view on Canal+ satellite :D

Sadly can't receive that channel over here, but I did listen to Radio Goodwood for a while...

I was very annoyed at not being there, not so much because of missing a dozen of advertized cars that I hadn't seen before - I knew that in advance and had come to terms with it.

But it was only Friday that I heard that THIS CAR was making a public appearance too while the organizers hadn't deemed it important enough to list it among their highlights and advertize it on the Goodwood website. For me, it would have been THE COMPLETE AND UTTER HIGHLIGHT OF THE BL00DY EVENT!

Read the story in the above link, and you'll understand. It's taken two years of investigation to find the true identity and history of this mystery machine - and apart from hosting the final articles, I helped achieve it. I wouldn't only have had the opportunity to see it from close-by, but it was also the very first time that the car ran under its true name - in the world's most prestigious historic motor-racing event. And we uncovered that name!

BUGGER, BUGGER, BUGGER...

Still, we will be in touch with C&SC very soon to have the full story in print very shortly.

Was There friday, bleeding good day.

Saw and photo'd the Auto union, which along with the old mercs, ferrari's and alfa's made for jaw dropping glory. There was even a few people giving it some real beans up the hill, highlights being P.Masa in this years renault F1, and a Kiwi hill climber in a 900 BHP pick up going for the hill record.

This years sculpture was fairly fantastic as well, more arty than outright stunning.

Even the english weather was there for us..

Cheers

What about the 'Hemi under glass' drag wheelie car? or the insane Pikes Peak Toyota Tacoma pick-up?...or the fantastic Ford Capri RS Koln touring car , driven by Sir Jackie Stewart....there was so much to see that 2 hrs wasnt nearly long enough!

More curses!

Learnt today that the Voisin Laboratoire, the Bugatti T251 and the Shadow DN1 were also present. Also not listed as "highlights" beforehand.

Perhaps the organizers - however much they should be lauded for their superb efforts - shouldn't waver as much to the casual fan and succumb to the temptation of bragging about how much contemporary F1 cars will be present each year, instead focusing on the obscure and rare cars the real enthusiasts are coming to see.
