Polo Short aerial- Will it fit Octavia?

Featured Replies

Anyone know if a Polo short (stubby) aerial -part no

6R0 035 849 will fit a 2010 Octavia?

Need to lower mine because of carrying canoes etc.

Yes it'll fit. Have one on mine.

Not noticed any difference in radio reception either.

In fact the MY12 Octys have a short aerial fitted as standard now. I believe it's exactly the same item as the Polo.

Many thanks-will order one

Might be worth going to the Skoda dealer and asking for the latest Octy one. Least you'll know for sure then :)

Is it shorter than the "stubby" fitted to the MY2011 Octy? Or the same one?

I'm pretty certain it's the same one. Will take some measurements later, if someone with a late FL can do the same?

I've had this one since the current Polo first came out in '09; had it on the Fabia at the time then transferred it straight over to the Octy when I got it.

I also have the stubby aerial fitted to my shark-fin on my 2010 Octy, fits fine, no difference in radio reception.

I've got one of these in my boot.

Tips for getting the old one off? I unscrewed it fully and tried yanking it as hard I dare but it felt like I was going to break something.

I bought a Polo stubby aerial, but it wouldn't fit my '06 vRS, the bottom of my oem aerial on the car has a longer tread coming out of it than the Polo stubby,

Easy when you know how!! Thanks man....

Best way I've found after swapping aerials on 5 Skodas now and other VW/Seats - unscrew the aerial as much as you can, then let it pivot down, so it's parallel with the roof. Then pull backwards, hard - the barb that's holding it into the base will then pop out. Doing it this way also saves you from trying to put a dent in the roof by pulling upwards! :)

On my '12 Octy vRS i have the "shorter" aerial like the one on Polo. :hi:

Forgot to post, finally got it fitted a couple of weeks ago. Because the flange bit around the bottom had to be trimmed to make it fit on the old style base, I thought it prudent to put some silicone grease on and around the thread before screwing it in. I think it's an improvement over the old style...

That is much better!

I've fitted a Honda S2000 antenna to mine. It's only 3" long.

Reception is no different to OEM........perfect

Does the pre fl one not just screw off,iv tryed but it still only comes loose to leave it flat!

My mothers 2011 elegance one just screws off altogether, was going to swap mine with hers as she would never notice but they don't seem the same, has the base to be changed too?

The later ones have a security feature on them that makes their removal slightly more difficult.

Once unscrewed you need to pull it firmly upwards, it feels wrong but it will eventually release!

Thanks silver. Will the 2011 one screw straight on then?

My mate has a S2000.....He might loose his aerial soon

The F/L ones simply screw on and off, oddly they've taken the security feature off.....i presume an aerial is cheaper than a dented roof!

I currently have an alloy bee sting on which i haven't got round to taking off since i went camping last July to get theh roof box on without removing the aerial completly :giggle:

My dealer wants $54 (about £27) for one of these (p/n: 6R0 035 849). What a rip-off! Might go with an eBay solution.

I ordered this part number today and its £14.69 from my dealer.

You need to watch out for some of those Ebay ones as they are utter rubbish and you will lose or have very poor reception.

I bought one for my FL Octavia from the eBay seller below. I queried whether it was OEM and he described it as being OEM quality made in Italy. It looks well made and gives good reception. And it only takes seconds to fit to an FL.

Sadly, the supplier doesn't ship to NZ :-(. What is it with UK suppliers; we're not running round in grass skirts, eating coconuts over here you know :giggle: . We even have postmen and postboxes...My guess is this would cost about £3 to post and be here in 7 days.
