hitachi coil packs

Featured Replies

Has anyone used the hitachi coil packs apparently they are a genuine part, they actually bolt to the head with two bolts per coil. My mechanic said that I should prob just get bosch coils as even tho the hitachi ones are oem he said they Were for later 1.8t. But ecs performance say they are for all vag 1.8t engines? Anyone use them in there car?

Cheers cill

Before buying coil packs, if you have original ones fitted contact the dealer with your reg number and see if its down for the coil pack recall. You'll get 4 new coils for Nowt lol

hitachi coil packs

Yes they are a genuine manufacturer of coilpacks.

iirc they make manufacturer a range of revision levels.

Might be worth checking via ETKA to see what the latest revision level is.

But as Raf_ said, see if you can get them for free ;)

Don't have etka anybody else wanna check for me :-P don't have original coil packs in my car so don't the free coil pack thing applies to me :-/

You can still get coil packs changed if they are not the hitachi ones in the car already as you will not get replacement hitachi packs as a recall swap. They were never std issue on the VRS and IMO not worth the value VAG dealers charge for them. Only benefit of the bolt downs is they do not lift up on higher powered cars or remapped cars as those tend to force coilpacks upwards.

I fitted them once but went back to normal ones and fitted hold down kit from ECS.

Out of curiosity why did you go back from the Hitachi coils?
