Alloy refurbing and powder coating

Featured Replies

Tried a search and there's not a lot on this subject...

After recentley buying some Octavia vRS alloys for my Fubster vRS, I have been pondering with the idea of getting the alloys powder coated in anthracite.

What finally made my mind up was this:

(Cheers Q)

Few questions though:

1. The alloys have two minor scuffs on them, would I need them refurbed first?

2. Can anyone recommend any places? I am pretty flexible with travelling anywhere in the UK (although the closer to Milton Keynes the better!)

3. Has anyone had it done on here?

and finally 4. How much roughly would I be looking at?

Cheers

You need to practise rule number 2 more ;)

Anyway, now to the useful stuff, here's what I did. On recommendation from Graeme (fab16v) I went to http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/index.htm in Hemel Hempstead (Uhm, they've moved to Flaunden now) and had all 4 done in antracite for

Having been looking also.

How long have they been done, and how are they holding up???

Cheers,

/G

They've been on for at least 6 months and am (once I clean them properly rather than just hose them off) in new condition. They've done a proper job, unlike the charlatans who did the 'silver coating' which the antracite replaced...

if you can get them stripped,i paid 40 quid the lot for black,it may cost more for another colour, these were for track day rims,so finish wasn't show n shine standard

you can get them done for

Another vote for the guys in Hemel from me. I had the wheels on my (ahem) Corsa done about 5 years ago and they looked great. Still looked the part when I sold the car 18 months later.

And the result (ignore the rusty discs ;))

did they not spray the discs gold :D

I think anthracite rims on a silver Fabia would look good - anybody got some pics?

How would anyone suggest getting past the 'they need your wheels for 4 days'...

Cuse I could really do with the wheels on the car... you know, for driving

See if you can find 3 nice vRS drivers in your area who will lend you their spare wheels for a couple of days... and put up with the shame of steels for a little while :D

I did it 2 wheels at a time and borrowed the spare wheel from DaveU.
