08 playe sill paint peeling off

Featured Replies

Any1 else came across the sill at the front close to wheel arch area the paint starting to peel off?? i have it at both sides in big areas, also had it on my seat leon and seat ibiza aswell and ave seen a lot of vag group cars happening to aswell when the cars come into my work??

Never seen it myself but that area gets a constant battering so any weakness in the paint will soon reveal itself.

Have you got pics Baz?

I've had paint issues on my 57 plate. Not at all impressed with VAG paint. I've heard some pretty shocking stories about mk5 Golfs as well.

Had this slightly on mine but now iv mud flaps, I hate the sill s on the Octavia's they really need skirts.

No help now however if you look at the wheel arch liners, you'll find a series of screws with hex/torx heads on them.

Undo the bottom few of these, so you can pull the rear of the front liners away (by the start of the sill) and then clean out all the leaves, debris and other rotting much down there and five them a quick rinse over with a hose pipe from the lower windscreen areas.

This stuff builds up and quickly blocks the drain hole in the liner, leaving that area with water hanging around a log.

It's a good idea to clean this at the end of autum each year IMHO.
