The 1.8T :( octavia did its trick of stalling on startup this morning again, (only does it on cold damp mornings).

Spoke to the dealer who says he has never heard of anything like it. He will book it in, but charge me if can't find anything (which sounds most likely).

Is this normal for warranty claims?

I think so, but it does sound like something is wrong. Hopefully something will show up on the computer. If thats all thats needed and they find no code, maybe thats when they will start charging you. My dealer has always hooked up their computer for free when I have had problems.

Sounds very cheeky. The warranty is there if there is a problem, which there because you are reporting it and taking it in. It sounds highly dubious that they should then try and charge you because THEY fail to source the problem which you are reporting.

I agree, it is a bit cheeky. You are paying if they are not competent enough. I certainly don't imagine the stalling

I took my last car a couple of times to the dealer who under warrenty did several possible things to cure the problem no charge was ever mentioned & should never be if its under warrenty.
