HI newbie here

Featured Replies

HI all just joined for info on parts and cars.

I have always liked the felicia pickup as they are great for carrying and look good slammed or suttley pimped.

I am a sheet metal apprentice so welding and steel work isnt a problem.

so what are your opinions on the felicia pick up as i will be using mine to transport two pitbikes and gear around the south west.on weekends and driven through the week.

Also i have a fiat punto abarth that my dad bought me as a first car. it sets me back £360 per month on insurance and i am 18 soon so want a diferent car. Will insurance be cheaper on a pick up? and have you any suggestions were to go for good insurance? any replies appreciated Oakley craig

Hi & welcome to a fellow pick up man. I've been really impressed with mine and over the years have carried all manner of stuff around, mostly bikes my lad has either bought or broken down on. However, insurance isn't always straightforward as they're classed by most if not all insurers as commercial. The best bet is to shop around as I've found a wide spread of premiums. On the plus side more and more insurers are now taking on commercials so you should have a reasonable number to compare.

Good luck with the old girl and would be good to see some piccy's. Cheers, Rob.

thanks rob what sort of power do you get from your pick up?

are there any mods that i can use to get more power as i heard the standard clutch wont take more than 70bhp?

  • what sort of look have you gone for as i see many have been slammed/ratted and i like both looks including euro
  • what sort of speed should i get out of it as id like to be able to thrash the local chavs :p

Hi ya, There's loads of things you can do engine wise if you want a bit more out of it. I run mine standard at around 75 bhp (1.6mpi). It's a good engine, very reliable but at times it would be nice to have a little more available under the right foot. Equally looks wise there's range of options to give the look you want. Mine is a 1999 Felicia Fun, produced as a special edition in yellow with part yellow leather interior and dials etc (a quick search on line will give you better idea looks wise).

The best area to target on the site is that covering older skodas etc and I'm sure you'll get a lot of info/responses from there. However a word of caution, basic insurance will be expensive for you and the more you mod the more the premium. My lad/his mates seem to think it's ok to mod/ramp up the power then conveniently forget to tell the insurance company. All well and good until something goes wrong and it comes to light = invalid policy!

Great to have you on the site and look forward to keeping in touch. Rob.

thanks i see they have been lowered more often than not. does that effect what you can put in the back?

is the1.9d very good?

pics soon as i keep it at work for no insurance.

i hear tailgates be come a problem to find? as its an ex cube van the roof soon "fell off" and it looks alot better.

i will be making a custom bed cover from aluminium and mercedes gas struts so will need a tailgate and i dnt like the look of a bully net.

is the 1.9 diesel the same as the 1.9 golf?

If lowering you have to be careful as you can affect the load carrying capacity, you'd need to precheck. Again I think the 1.9d is a good engine/option but guys on the specialist part of site will be able to better advise. I've removed the timber sections from the bed of mine and wanted to install a checker plate arrangement but just haven't got round to it. See you around the site. Cheers.

Welcome along, and enjoy your pick up.

Hello - can't say I know much about the Felicia but hope you enjoy it!
