Hi,

Noticed that my engine vibrates quite alot on idle?

Is it normal for it idle abit erratic? My revs stay the same, around 1k.

The engine cover is quite bad, I did have the cambelt and waterpump done around 2 weeks ago, would the timing be slightly out?

Also whats that annoying ticking//rattling sound? I know the alternator bearings are making a noise, but sounds like the other side of engine. You can tell mostly at the end of the video, engine cover moving in the reflections.

Heres a video.

Thanks.

Mine can be quite harsh at idle from time to time, it's only seems to happen to Blt engines and others report it worse on hills, other posts say that it's something to do with the emission requirements of the Blt. Most seem to do it do I'd say it's fine. As for the vid it sounds fine IMO.

1k idle is high, even on warm up idle mine only touches just over 900rpm.

That looks/sounds OK to me. I think my Bacon sarnie is worse, esp when cold and on hills.

My BLT engined vRS vibrates like mad on idle since having the gearbox mount uprated.. Will deffo put back to standard to sell!

If its a super pro mount ill take it :)

By looking at the engine cover it looks like it vibrates harshly intermittently? Mine does the same but i've just lived with it! Dunno if it means there's something wrong!

Looks and sounds ok to me. Mind tends to have the odd tick over as if a cylinder has shut down. But then i have read the do shut down during idle to save fuel and polar bears. Not sure if this is exactly true thou.
