Reverse Switch wire & Strange Noise

Featured Replies

After having a look round I discovered that the wire supplying the plug for the reverse light switch has napped hence no reverse lights. Im assuming that this wire/s has plugs either end. Does anyone know the part number for a new wire and plug for the reverse switch.

Second, after driving at 50mph and then accelrating to 70mph my car statred making a strange and loud wheezing noise. The characteristics of the car did not change i.e. no loss of power or speed, no warning lights, temparture normal and then stopped. Im clueless.

the wire onto the reverse switch has a plug on it... are you able to join the wire? thats what did on mine

It could be done but I'm not skilled enough to do it

The reversing light switch connections are in part of the loom that passes through the orange 10-pin connection at connection box in the plenun chamber. That connector also carries radiator fan, speed sensor, a/c and dash to ECU wires (depends on engine/model).

Fixing the wire is MUCH simpler than messing with the loom.

Thanks guys I will certianly look into it. To be honest I am more concerned has to what the strange wheezing noise was last night. It hasnt happened since and even when I try to entise it to come back so I can see what it is doing it the sound wont come back. I have checked all of the pipes and hoses and cant find anything.I stated in another post that I still have a worn wheel bearing sound yet my front bearings are new and my rear ones are still road worthy. I am now wondering if it could be bearings on the gear box maybe? I bloody hope not!
