Service Interval.

Featured Replies

Have noticed that the service interval on the mfd has not moved from 11400 miles or 431 days-is this because the car has been set up for set srvicing in stead of variable?.

Ignore my question-about 20 minutes ago when I was waiting at the lights the display changed to 11300 miles and 430 days!.

Just checked again-went from 430 days to 429 days at 16-30.Mileage stayed at 11300.

Thats on variable servicing alright, on fixed you would not see higher than 365 days.

I have lost a day!,have just checked after i switched off the engine and the readout says 426 days to service.Should say 427 days??.

its variable, so will count down based on usage and other factors. Sometimes it may jump several days, whilst other times it may stay on the same figure for several days.

What Manny says.

Confused me at first, but I watched it for a few days and managed to work out what it was doing.

Thanks for all the info,at first I thought it was me being a bit daft and getting my days mixed up.Will now keep an eye on the readout and see what it does.

Have just been out in the Yeti.First set of lights I came too I scrolled down to the service interval-the total had changed from 426 to 425 days,as I pulled away from the lights the total went down to 424 days!.By the time I got back home the total had gone back up to 425 days.

So a bit like watching the fuel tank range then.......

This is interesting.

I'm driving a 1.2DSG from my dealer for a few days, its 12 reg with c. 500 miles on the clock so far. Checked the service status to see whether it was set on variable or fixed and it shows around 11,500 miles/425 days which would indicate 'variable' but

I thought variable started at 730 days/ 18,600 miles and worked downwards - at least that's what my own CR140 2.0TDI did.

Does this mean that the 1.2TSI has a different variable regime to the 2.0L TDI?

The system seems a bit bonkers to me,started off with 420 days to go this morning now states 417 days to service,so I have 'lost' 3 days in one morning!.

How old is the car and how many miles have you done?

My CR140 on variable has a service prediction of 18,600/730 days and counts down from there. Currently I've covered 15,500 miles and service is due in 3,100 miles = 18,600

I'm thinking the 1.2TSI has a different regime.

The car is 4 months old and has aprox' 2200 miles on the clock.

None of these service computers use "human logic", so although it may show days, it is not a true "calendar" count.

The computer takes into account many different parameters, not just the calendar. So a journey of lots of stop - start motion will count as more "days" than a long steady journey when engine temperatures are constant.

I am beginning to suspect now a short journey of say, less than a mile will knock a day of the total.

I would expect that.

Do lots of stop start and short trips and you would see the days and mileage tumble.
