mk1 octavia vrs boost then no boost then boost in same gear

Featured Replies

hi just bought a 51 plate vrs today for me missus and its great , love it apart from theres a fault with it doh !!

when driving noticed more in 2nd 3rd but happens in every gear when the turbo comes in it pulls then hesitates then pulls then hesitates then pulls and it does this all through the gear about 4 times when it pulls it pulls really well , no warning lights on and apart from this runs really nice please please help

Is your car mapped ?

Sounds like the coilpacks, all then nothing. Have they been done on the recall? Call your local Skoda dealer and ask. Or see the other thread.

hi thanks peeps car is standard , not heard about a fault with coil packs ???? what do i need to do will they still do that even tho its 10 years old ???

thanks again for your help

do you think it could be a boost leak

dont know if this makes a difference but the car doesnt loose power it just doesnt get a full delivery of boost it gets a bit then a bit more the a bit more then a bit more then change gear

Recall will cover your car as long as you have OEM coil packs.

Do a search for coil pack recall.

Officially Skoda will only replace OEM ones so hopefully they'd give you the benefit of the doubt and replace both the one that needs replacing and the one with the numbers missing. If it was me I think I'd stump up the extra £60 and get them to put 4 of the latest type in. If you disconnect the coilpacks one by one with the engine idling you can tell which one is faulty because disconnecting it won't make any difference to the sound of the engine.

Ah I see I'm not sure if the coil packs are the problem the car doesn't have a misfire and runs really well it's just seems like maybe there a boost leak I could be wrong as I havent had anything to do with this engine before

Might be the boost, the only way you can know for sure is get VAG-com or a fault code reader on it. You can buy them yourself or find someone on here local to you that can do it. Then log actual vs requested boost while you take it for a drive. Likewise VAG-com should show a fault code if there is a problem with one or more coil packs. Judging by the fact you've got a weird mix of coilpacks its had coilpacks problems in the past

sorry whats vag-com ???

Does this happen when you are giving it full beans, its not the traction control dumping boost is it?

You sure it is not mapped? It sounds like the good old surging problem.

VAG-COM is a diagnostic program for VW/VAG cars. Loads of stuff on the forum and internet about it.

Also there are plenty of other diagnostic programs that work off your phone or PC. Bluetooth adaptor is about £10-15. And the programes are a similar amount.

Hi defo not remapped and it's the same in 1st or 5 th tried it with tc on and off , just had a mate come round with a computer and it's come up with a fault code 17705 which is intermittent boost pressure loss between turbo and inlet I think so I will have to have a look at me boost pipes etc
