Yes, Hayden did his VRS and it looked pretty smart in the end. See if I can find the thread.

Thats a fantastic job mate! Did the headlight seal up ok after it?

I remember peeps doin' this sort of thing to their Yaris headlights, to look like the Tsport! Warm up the lights in an oven (Carefully) Split, paint, reassemble with sealant and Bob's your auntie's partner!

I have also spotted film that goes on the front of the glass, similar to window tint film, that you trim, fit and forget (Hopefully) For a fraction of the cost and less overall work too! You may even find you get enough to do the fogs/spots!

If you choose the right product for re-seal no problem.

Original Hella :D

Put them in a oven at 100° for 10 min. Than you can easily remove the polycarbonat cover. Immediately clean the old seals when still molten. Heat gun works too, but more messy and time consuming.

For re-assembly I use black silicone, I've a pictorial guide for this application, I can upload here on Monday ;)

Before any matte black spraying be sure having the surface wetsanded (about 1000 grit) and cleaned

I'm so confused - when I tried to open the Hella headlight as you mention I popped it in the oven thinking it would be the quickest thing and even at 100 degress for 15min did not do the trick. Eventually and out of curiosity I left it in at a higher temperature and for longer - the result was parts of the headlight to melt but the seal just didn't want to soften and come apart. Then I tried the heatgun process - nothing! At the end I dropped the whole project until I found out Depo aftermarket Fabia headlights. Those where so easy to open with a heatgun cause the seal was clearly a different type. After 5 mins around the edge with the heatgun and the headlight pop opened with not problems at all. So easy.

That is why I'm so baffled with your Hella headlight pics. Are you sure they are Hella? only way to tell the difference with the Depo ones is the embossed mark of Hella's logo at the back. Otherwise they are exactly the same!

It is Hella

But I guess some batches are different, noticed it from the colour of the seal.

If someone need stone-hard sealing, I can recommend Polyurethane Black Mastic

After sealing, immediately use couple of clamps for proper joining

I guess I probably got my hands on a batch that was glued together with cement!
