cambelt change?

Featured Replies

Just had my car serviced at local garage (not Skoda) but they are totally 100% honest and genuine which is a rareity these days.

Everything was checked, just needed front and rear brakes replaced and other obvious, filters etc...

Question, the car (55 plate) has done 87,000 miles with full service history, should I have had the cam belt changed?

Any advice appreciated, thank you. omnipeta.

Has it been changed before, if not then your way overdue.

Thanks Manny, I'll discuss with local garage asap.

80k and get the water pump and aux belts done at the same time.

Going to get mine done by my mechanic. What are the aux belts? Will they be obvious to the mechanic?

If not then he is not a mechanic.

Alternater, power steering and maybe air con, at least the alternater.

Fit a full cambelt kit and change the water pump for a non-VAG metal impeller type.

Can you point me in the right direction for the kit and pump then? Don't want to end up getting the wrong type. My mechanic just took my reg details so he can get the parts. I fear he may just end up with standard vag spec parts.

Euro Car Parts - get the Conti belt kit and whatever metal impeller water pump they have.
