Hi Folks!

I'm new to this site and have joined because I need advice from you knowledgeable people.

I am looking at buying a car. My budget is

The answer is YES. alto the golf is a bit lardy, compared to the others.(size).

The 150's , well, a search on the site will give specifics around the differences.

I , & probably others would recommend you test drive each, but being a completely unbiased site ;) , would recommend the Furby.

Tho you will find out when you cost eache of your probables, for value, the FUrby wins hands down.

Now that favorite question MODS, simple answer, search remaps, as everyone has their favourite mapper. :)

BTW Welcome to the site :wavey:

Well, a nice new 05 plate vRS in Black should be sitting on my drive in less than 10 days! :D

Took at test drive at 12pm, returned at 2pm, and ordered mine at 2:01pm! Absolutely fantastic value for money and the performance was awesome. I asked my dealer about ECU mapping and he again confirmed that it does not invalidate the warranty offered by Skoda. I've read a lot of remarks regarding uncertainty on this point, so I would like to point out that my dealer even recommended a tuning specialist in my local area.

This has settled my mind and I will certainly be re-mapping mine. What I would like some advice on is when I should consider this re-mapping. I want to let the engine adapt to my driving style and "burn-in" before I do make any modifications. The re-map would be accompanied by an air intake change, the addition of a new filter (Green filter) and perhaps a new strut brace.

Any recommendations as to how long this "burn-in" period should be?

Cheers

Nice one, I'm sure you've made the right choice. A quick read of this weeks Auto Express driver survey should confirm that for you.

I would try to get the warranty and remap issue in writing mate. Dealers will often tell you what you want to hear in order to clinch the deal.

Then your dealer is lying I'm afraid , and probably has a bad case of "say anything to make the sale".

If they are going to honour any warranty work , then thats down to them , but if Skoda find out about this then they may change their mind sharpish. Also if you have to take the car elsewhere then you may get a very different story.

Don't mean to be all doom and gloom , as I'm sure you'll love the new car , just be suspicious when dealers say things like that

Yeah mate, tell me about it! I'm a bit concerned that the ECU records changes in the check sum records in the ECU Flash memory.

I will confirm everything before going ahead with any mod anyway.

In your car specs you mention PDC, What is that? Also, are the Xenon headlights worth the

Yeah, there are some fly dealers out there. Although my experience was pleasant enough. I think all natural scepticism disappears when excitement takes over. I'll go into that dealership and record them saying it again. I wonder where they'd stand then? :D

I'd bet good money that they won't put it in writing for you

Under Scottish Law verbal statements can be contractual so any statement made by a dealer would be legally binding I think.

True enough , but if you are unlucky enough to get problems (very few people do , other than the clutch wearing out a bit faster) you don't really want to have to start taking dealers to court while your car is off the road.

Anyway , enough of that , welcome to the site and enjoy the new car when it arrives

I'm sure I will. Thanks mate. The site is very impressive. You don't happen to know what VRStu's PDC is do you?
