Super Guard

Featured Replies

Just bought a Fabia from the dealers, have been offered,Sure Guard, is it worth having?

Let me know your thoughts/ or experiences

No

It wont be properly applied and they make a lot of money from you!!

Granted...There is an attraction...If youre bone idle and cant be bothered to keep your car clean, then it might be an option but its no better than a decent sealer

Your salesman will be on commission too

Have already made the call to cancel the treatment .

I'd miss the claying :-)

I think Chris's response has summed this one up well and you have clearly not taken the Super Guard option but thought I would also add my 2p.

The product is in reality around £25 and will go some way to protecting your paintwork but it does need to be maintained by yourself. The main problem with this type of product is that it will be applied by someone who in reality doesn't have a lot of allocated time to apply it propoerly, with any sealant and many other processes the preparation is the key, sadly this is normally missed.

For the money you would be much better off investing in some kit to do it yourself or look up your local friendly detailer who would be able to offer you a bespoke service such as a 'New Car Protection'.

Enjoy your new Fabia..............

Had a friend who worked for the skoda dealer. Whilst waiting for him I over heard him quoting this stuff at them for £250. After he had finished I asked him how much it really was and he said the whole lot was worth about £50.

Also had the privilege of using it at the skoda detailing bay and my gosh was it ****e! does not do a proper job in the slightest and the tools they had there could/would not be able to apply it properly.

My partner recently purchased a nearly new Yaris from the local franchised Toyota dealer and she was offered a Supaguard treatment.

I chipped in with " its only as good as the person who applies it!" and the salesman agreed, however he did say his staff were properly trained. I said I had plenty of gear at home to polish and clean cars so we politely declined......

Had this applied to my vrs, (I didn't want it applied, but in telling the dealer this they lowered the overall price of the car) I suppose it does what it's meant to do, but the kit which was provided is next to usless for my car.

You get cheap sponge, chamois leather, 2 small microfibre cloths and various spray on polishes/cleaners not designed for dark or black paint/alloys. Having black paint and alloys you can probably see the problem here; its going to get swirl marked to hell.

Since were in the middle of a hosepipe ban here, it has had some benefit, but I wish I'd pushed a bit harder not to have it applied.

However, you do get a paintwork and interior guarentee should it get damanged which they say they will repair for free as part of the guarentee.

As there is no mention in the policy that you have to use their products to maintain the paintwork, I will be removing this and applying the better Autoglym products I used on my old car (once the hosepipe ban is over!).
