GT4 and international A Licence

Featured Replies

Been messing around with GT4 for sometime now, and as far as licences go have managed to complete

National B

National A

International B

Any tips on how to drive the merc round the nurburgring smoothly with the standard PS2 controller. I always manage to come a cropper on the later sections of the circuit and find myself having to redo the previous 7 minutes to get back to where I was, and whats the graduation test like to do? These are the last 2 for me to get the International A licence.

It took me probably 5-7 attempts to do this with the standard controller. I know the sections you're talking about, you've just got to be careful and drive smoothly, The complex just before the long straight (7:30sec ish into it) is a bit misleading as there is no gear indicated for the corners unless you're going too fast, I just carefully rolled through in 4th.

There is a bridge at the end of the long straight, if you're not braking by the time you go under it you'll be going too fast for the left hander at the end. After you've been flying along there, got used to the speed etc. its very difficult to guage how slowly you've actually gotta take the last few corners.

Try doing a lap reasonably slowly, that way you'll have a "best time" in the system that you can compare with when driving round.

You dont have to drive that fast to get the bronze award.

The graduation test after the ring is a good one ;) if you like driving fast you'll love it!

It took me quite a few goes before I completed it, although my trouble was with the complex around the carousel and running into the back of the pace car :D.

In the end I just backed off a little - take it smooth, as Goochie says - the time is lenient enough to be able to just drive it smooth and steady. Try to learn the circuit as well as a similar test comes up in the Special Licence.

:finger: I cant do it:( Goochie can i cheat and borrow your card:rolleyes: :o

 Phil

Still on my International-B licence. Must set some time aside to play this game again!!! ;)

Chris

LOL! NO!

Just be gentle and dont worry about it too much, in the complex before the long straight, the pace car was way in front of me as I was just coasting along. Still managed 9:35 time (25secs to spare).

Once I did crash on what is literally the last corner though

The first half is reasonably easy if you're gentle as the camber etc. is normal, its the second half where the corners are a little blind and you can easily go to fast where you need to concentrate. Then the bit after the long straight (dont get too used to going fast on the straight) jst take it very very easy.

I must stop playing this game, the reason why I have not posted much in the evening. Lastnight I was playing from about 6pm till around 10.30pm.

I'll try the ring again tonight, and try and go slower. I think after a while you tend to lose concerntration and before you know it are going flatout when really you dont need to.

Just take it steady, you should get through in under 10 mins.

Just try the 'special' licence mate, same course but the touring car version of that Merc and a 8 min upper time limit, now thats tricky.

Opened up Extreme races last night for the first time, the F1 race championship is 15 or 16 races long of about 60 laps each, jesus.

Think I know the bit you mean, at one stage I came out of a bend with just my right front wheel hanging on to the track - managed to coax it back on. As someone just said take it easy and you'll beat 10 minutes easy. I got silver on my first attempt (not showing off, honest!). Using the standard controller (as I do) you have to get the hang of not over-controlling the car, and avoid all steering when you're neither accelerating nor braking, that's when I tend to start fishtailing madly!

Once you've done that one you should walk the rest of the licence.

PS - remember Clarkson, he beat 10 minutes in a diesel Jag! You don't have to cane it to pass the test in an AMG Merc, just go as fast as you can in a straight line and drive like a granny through the twisty bits!

Managed to get the A license in the end, did the ring in 9:50 I think it was. Then the high speed graduation test is interesting and it took me nearly 2 hours to master the bendy section at the end of the long straight.

hehe I managed to the do the merc on the ring, first go, but i had been playing the Nurburgring in arcade mode for days before the licence test which defo helped... the gradution test is fantastic, that took a while alright... but the feeling of speed is imense, serious admiration for racers doing it for 24hrs!!!

Just to rub it in - i just completed the S licence :D

The final Ring test in <8mins is quite canny :D

Git!!! :D;)

just under 50% complete at the moment.

Can't wait to get to 50% - see what car it gives me :D

Only 37% at the mo! Just completed the 24h 'Ring and won the F1 car...bl*^dy red one though, looks like a Ferrari.

Now tackling the Gran Turismo World Sports Car Championship - finding it heavy going in the Pescarola.

do you need to complete the 24hr race in one go?

do you need to complete the 24hr race in one go?

You certainly do - although I raced in stints with the PS2 driving for 8 hours solid overnight. If your B-Spec driver is fairly experienced then there wont be any problems.

you will all laught but who gives a F@@k doing my international b license cant get past the alpha one on the cita di arria been at it on and off all friggin day allready smashed one controller the second is heading for the window just shortly ...the more beers i have does not help either...

that is a bugger of a course that one.

If its the course I remember, then there are only a few places to pass. its very difficult to avoid crashing into the other car. The other test I struggled with was the cone slalom.

How many points would you consider is an experiences B spec driver?

cheers

Yeah spent most of Saturday night on that, failing miserably. Turned off the PS/2 and then tried it Sunday morning - knocked all three of them off first time, and I was actually quicker with ASR off on the slalom!

Currently racking up a bit of money at the moment before I attempt the International A licences - you lot have scared me off them ;)

Chris

Hmmmm - does anyone have a recommendation for a car to buy for the Lightweight cup (Beginners Events)? All the cars I have are too long, expect my lovely Caterham Fireblade which is "special" and I can't seem to enter in any events!

Ta! Chris

I won it with a Honda Beat :D

Just to add - last night passed 50.4%

The game just keeps getting better.

I so want an official Logitech GT4 wheel, but

Passed the alpha one yesterday !!!! made a complete **** of the cras i have in my garage ...long story ended up only owning the nike concept car !!! cant find anywhere to race it ...cant sell it either ...what can i do with it ??????????????
