How do I code/re-code my fob with a vag-com

Featured Replies

I have borrowed a friends vag-com so I was wondering how a recode my fob because it stopped working when I changed my battery.

So could I please have some help and the codes I need to out in, thanks Jay

To the remote central locking or the car (ignition)?

If its the remote, with the key in the ignition in position for comms, just about to start it, select module 46, adaption, channel 1, will tell you how many keys saved. Presumably it will be zero. Alter value to 1, hit save, then hold down the open button on the key whilst in the ignition for a few seconds.

Yeah its not for the imobiliser for the fob. I think I tried that before but I held the button down for only like one second, so I'll try it again for longer. How will I know if it has worked? Will it beep because it did that before and then when I tried it it didn't work :(

Ahem, the remote central locking will start working. ;) Recently I have tried to re-program a couple and failed on each occasion. Something in the car simply didn't want to know about the keys being attempted to code to the remote central locking. :(

Hmm, I have just done a fault code check and one of the fault codes was the key incorrect programming, So i deleted all the codes and tried what you told me to do and it still doesnt seem to be working, this is getting annoying :@ haha

If you're on about the remote (not the immobiliser) and I assume as you mention changing the battery and the immobiliser transponder is passive then you could try following the process in the car users manual to re-sync the fob. I've never bothered to try doing it in VCDS as it would take longer to fire the laptop up than to do the job.

Update, I have done a fault code check and i found this..

1 Fault Found:

01179 - Incorrect Key Programming

35-00 - -

I have tried to reset or clear the codes and it wont go. So I take it that this is the problem?
