retrofit bluetooth

Featured Replies

Finally bought a vrs and collect it on Friday :) . It doesn't have bluetooth but was looking at buying an OEM kit off ebay and installing it. Car is a 2010 and has maxidot but do you need the multifunction steering wheel as well for bluetooth to work or will it still operate correctly with the standard wheel? I have vag com to enable the coding if required.

I thihnk it is better with MFSW but it is not absolutely necessary.

cheers for the replies. Will get a kit ordered. Collect the car on Friday :)

Our SE is also without BlueTooth, which is an issue to SWMBO when she uses it for her business trips, but it's off to the local main-dealer (DM Keith - Ossett) for this fitting on Thursday

I like the feature "Sound Quality" :wonder: Doesn't say how much just that it has some. To be honest I find it a bit too quiet a lot of the time but that might just be me (Deaf as a post)

that looks like more of an aftermarket fitment. The one I was meaning is intergrated through the stereo (Bolero h/unit) and gives full functionality on the maxidot display as well. No need to fit separate display unit.

Not necessary at all. I installed a OEM bluetooth into my last Octavia to pair with the Columbus, and that didn't have MFSW. Swapped it to my new Octavia which once again doesn't have MFSW. Everything working completely OK on both cars.

Never used a MFSW in an Octavia, and have never missed it.

Hello Mike

Does one need maxi dot in order for the OEM Bluetooth ?

And is there an external interface/screen to make and receive calls or do you just purely use your mobile phone and that's it ?

Thanks for reply Mike

That's exactly what I want, no external interface.

Might get one fitted to my greenline, what is cost likely to be for fitting?

Kit itself seems to go for about £200 on ebay. I'm going to fit mine myself so don't know about fitting costs

we looked at one of those items on the net, it too turned the Bolero into a key-pad/information centre,& thought it was 'the biz'

However, SWMBO wasn't too keen on fittign anything that might be construed as interfering with the electrical system, seeing as there's a lot of warranty left, even thoughI did say that any claim would only be turned down on the radio/CDplayer.

Sadly, the local main-dealer didn't know of a factory/importer approved kit to do the same job (touchscreen keypad)

but the module is a genuine vag bluetooth unit? I know if you ask dealer they will claim it has to be done at the factory. You could probably order the various parts via the dealer but it would cost a lot more!

Picked it back up this afternoon, she drove it back home, & reports no issues regarding volume/etc....

Not quite the colour shown in the brochure link, but a mid-grey, not an issue though

Will add picture later (just in case anyone's interested)

Try fitting 5K0 035 730 B unit which I installed in past. It will work on bolero even without coding and mfsw not required can manage menu via wiper stick.

Try getting a unit from Eddie nl.

After Wednesdays snow, we might have to go back to DM Keiths over it.

Not that it's not working or anything, but, there was a small patch of clear roof (with the entire car covered in snow) above where the unit sits in the head-lining

Looking inside, the 4 buttons were still lit, even after being left overnight :wonder:

I'd have thought that there'd be a permanant live for the memory (or would that be located in the 'control box' mounted behind the dash?), & that the lights/function-buttons would either be on a timer, or an 'ignition controlled' live, as per many car radios

Any ideas anyone???

  • 3 weeks later...
