Can anyone help

Featured Replies

Rather than remove the hatchback trim, i want to disconnect the light on the dash to say the hatch is open.

What colour are the wire that go to the switch in the boot as i might cut it where the loom goes into the top of the boot.

All i want is the dash light out for the hatchback boot open warning light. off.

Ive read its a pain getting the trim back on so i'm thinking of other options.

cheers

I think you will find that the electrics for the boot lock are not in the boot lid/hatch but rather on the car body under the sill/boot trim. There is a motor and latch there to release the boot lid once you key the remote.

I don't know where the sensor for the dashboard light might be, but I would make a start there.

To remove the trim; take out the spare tyre and you will see two plastic nuts under the trim. Remove these and then, once they're removed, pull the trim sharply upwards to access the lock and electics.

If the light is staying on - you might get to fix it there or replace the lock.

Here is a link to a guide to removing trim in order to fit a tow bar on an estate - similar to a hatch might be of use. http://octavia-vrs.c.../towbar-install

The likelihood is that everything is integrated into the lock so if you cut the wires the boot lock will no longer work.

Cheers but can you tell me how to take off the panel that is on the hatchback lid itself.

I need to get to the wire that sits near the rear wiper motor.

Thanks

If I wanted to do this, I'd be more inclined to look into whether it's possible to code out the hatch light, using VAG-COM/VCDS.

Might be worth a question in the VCDS section.

To me this is like not wanting the seatbelt warning light on. So instead of removing the plug underneath the driver's seat for it, I removed the coding for it using VCDS.

Pardon my ignorance but why would you want to do this ?

Because the cars had a rear end shunt , the boot sits a bit higher than it should but won't adjust. It locks okay but the dash light is showing its open.
