New vRS - strange noise...

Featured Replies

Picked up my new vRS FSI last Thursday, my first vRS and i'm really pleased with it but getting a strange noise on about half throttle. The car runs perfectly and it doesn't sound like anything untoward but at around 1500rpm, if you give it maybe half throttle the rasp is there till maybe 3000-3500 at which point it disappears. On light throttle the sound isn't there. Has anyone else experienced this?

Secondly - what is the concensus on backbox for a bit of note - it's a bit bland sounding currently. Thinking Miltek? May add centre section with remap later.

Cheers.

Do a search for rattling noise in this forum and there is a big thread about it. Essentially nothing to worry about but is annoying.

If you want a satisfying noise then the Miltek non-res is hard to beat.

It's might be a split in the Diverter valve.

The TSI rattle is well documented. Dealers will offer a free fix. They fit a clip onto the turbo's actuator rod which cures it.

I have had this done and it is now totally rattle-free. Do a search on here.

Good luck.
