Hissing noise when AC is on?

Featured Replies

So put my AC on today, first time in 6 months and was working perfect back then.

It's working fine now. Nice and freezing cold but get a hissing noise when the AC is on. It makes funny hissing noise, goes low then loud

I've left AC on for 30mins on way home

And made no difference.

Hissing goes when AC button is turned off

Any ideas?

Car is fabia vrs 2006 mk1

Thanks.

Could be low pressure caused by lack of use allowing some of the gas to escape through joints that have gone dry.

The owners manual states that the AC should be run, even if only for short periods once every few weeks to circulate the lubricating oil to stop the joints going dry.

Yeh something I ignored :(

Any idea what I can do to fix? Would it need a leak test ?

i to have this problem. seems to only happen at low speeds, at higher speeds the noise disappears. is there an easy fix for this?

Probably a leak test and a regas might do the trick.

Then remember to use the A/C more often. It's not just to cool the car but very good to run periodically even when it's not really warm as it takes the moisture out the air in the car.

Ours is on pretty much all the time unless we put "econ" on. The advantage of climate control.
