Recall for delaminating Skoda Badges!

Featured Replies

While booking a recall appointment for my wife's Fabia I was told by the dealer that my Superb ( May 2010 ) was a subject of a recall and the badges had to be changed as some were delaminating. Does anybody know if this is something new or an old one that I've previously missed?

Not heard of a recall for it, it's probably not a recall but a service bulletin or similar. For what it's worth, my Superb 2 is suffering from white worm on all it's badges which is a little disappointing, wheel centres, bonnet and boot badge. I am buying my own retro badges to go on though through the pastyboy group buy.

My Superb (built in July 2011) gets an electric seats software update and new badges tomorrow, they're also suffering from the white worm. Let's hope that the new badges are better quality.

The service bulletin codes for these actions are 66F1 (for the logos) and 70E8 (electric seats software).

I had the bootlid badge replaced also due to corrosion. Done under warranty without question, also the chrome strip at the bottom of the bootlid began to get little bubbles on the surface which was also changed.

My main front & rear badges are terrible, I will get onto the dealer and get some organised. I ll also check the wheel badges.

Haven't noticed anything on mine yet - 4 months old.

It is quite recently as some days ago I changed my badges to my June 2010 Superb. The badge condition deteriorated after 1 year but only the one from the rear. Skoda dealers tried to deny any responsibility blaming the washing chemicals or weather corrosion. But how to accept this when only one badge is affected, and that is less exposed to road harsh condition? Do they think that I drive on reverse more often? :giggle:

I knew nothing about this recall, nor did I have a problem with delamination of my badges AFAIK. However, when my car was in for service last week the dealer informed me of the recall and changed both stating there had been a faulty batch of badges used by the factory which were all getting replaced.

Same deal goes with the chrome ornaments that lost their silver bright look, especially the one from the rear doors, This issue is not yet official accepted to be corrected by Skoda but the problem is well known remaining on the dealers decision to react to the owners complaints.

You can see the diference at the junction while all other chromed parts are in excellent condition. This is just a small bad luck while the car runs excellent after 60.000 km.
