abs light and heavy steering

Featured Replies

ok, so Im in wales on holiday and on the way to a relatives my abs light came on. I stopped, restarted and it was still on. I kept going as I was literally up a mountain. I then found my steering to be pretty heavy at slow speed.

Its with Kia now being looked at but could/would the two be linked? And any ideas what it may be?

There was no noises before...it just happened.

Unsure on Kia's but I had a vauxhall that did a similar thing and it was the steering sensor that failed.

This sensed the steering wheel position, and in conjunction with the ABS encoders decided how much steering assistance to give.

When the sensor failed I lost most but not all of the steering power assistance and I had both ABS and power steering warning lights on.

I am sure there will be someone else along soon with more technical know how. Hope it's an easy fix for you.
