5 Beeps

Featured Replies

You folks are my first port of call, as you can see my Laptop works very well, BUT. Its a Dell Inspiron that on start up emits 4 sets of 5 Beeps, so my question is why is it beeping and what is causing it, and what d I do to rectify the issue.

I cannot see 4 sets of 5 Beeps

Just asked one of our desktop support guys, he reckons 5 beeps on a dell inspiron is often the CMOS battery needs replacing, have a look in the bios if the time or any other settings are being lost when the laptop has no power.

Does sound like the CMOS battery.

Easily to replace on a desktop, might be a bit of a **** on a laptop.

Dell has lots of guides on replacing parts if you search for your model.

Cheers Guys, under Warranty so had a visit to Currys, The Girl booked it in and phoned DELL, Result, CMOS battery, STATIC. removed Battery and pressed to power up, this drained the Static out. The Lady at DELL then took over my Computer and did a BIOS check and upgrade, Working perfect. Thanks Guys
