Steering ABS ESP failure after 1580mls Local dealer unco-operative!

Featured Replies

After a wait of 6 months I finally got my new Superb Elegance Estate. Most disappointing that after 1580 miles the steering, abs and esp warning lights all came on and thre was no power steering. Soda assist sent a man within 2 hours who confirmed steering rack failure and that the vehicle would have to be recovered to nearest Skoda dealer in Forest of Dean. Then I came up against 1960-70 service! Dealer decided to do tests after delay, Skoda advised 1 fix which did not work and have now advised to fit a new rack (can only think that the Skoda Assist man had seen this before). They can't or won't do anything for another 5 days. Good After sales service? Not in m book!

I did not buy the car locally and have had this thrown at me by he local dealer who seems reluctant to give the repair any urgency and seem to think that they are doing me some sort of favour by fixing what is a major defect.

Question is - has anyone else had this sort of defect? Is it common?

How long have you had the car for? I wonder if contacting Skoda UK is best, insisting that if its not fixed briskly then you expect a replacement car?

This probably sounds extreme but its alot of money and I had crappy service.

Saying that though, I do hear that parts can take some time to be delivered for Skoda's (I'm used to next day with BMW).

Ask for loan car immediately. If not forthcoming, reject your car.
