Absolutely Fabia-ulous Pair of Pasty Wagons - NOW WITH NEW HEADLIGHTS

Featured Replies

Whats better than a Fabia VRS?............................Two Fabia VRS's!!

The Pasty household is now a completely Fabia'd zone.

After 13 months the Ibiza has gone on to a new home and been replaced by a second Fabia VRS.

With our Red Fabia passing the 116000 mile mark I've been searching for something to potentially ease it's work load of a daily 60 mile round trip commute and numerous 500 mile round trips back home to pastyland.

A seond PD130 to replace the thirsty old 'beezer seemed ideal solution.

Having searched around I'd kind of settled for a second leggy car probably an early Ibiza Sport PD130 with 100k+ miles on the clock; a perfect alternative appeared on Autotrader relatively locally and after a quick test drive a deal was done as it was an opportunity too good to miss....so the pasty garage now looks like this:

A "new" 54 plate in black magic with 38,000 on the clock.

Yep 8 years old less than 40,000 miles! I even think it still has it's original Conti Sport Contacts on the rear wheels!!

As it's insured on Mrs Pasty's insurance policy which only has a single year no claims bonus, it'll be staying completely standard - the loss of 47bhp, 312's and the Jabba RARB from her daily commute took some talking round! ;)

That said though it's already been treated to retro fit cruise control (Thanks Ross) and one of the 2 previous owners also added face lift lights (which is nice)

I've then added the necessary declaration of Briskoda love!

So far - 2 days in - it's been fantastic.

Given the XSY number plate is almost SXY which is almost sexy the car has been dubbed as "almost sexy" :D

It's smooth ride has highlighted just how knackered the dampers on the red car are and to be honest the missing ponies aren't that apparent.

There is a horrible rattle in the dash so i'm gunna have to pop the glove box out and have a poke around, there may be an issue with the aircon as it hisses like a good'un at certain periods, and theres wheels wobble at cruising speed so gunna go get the wheels balanced.

Heres hoping the future is bright and this black car proves as bullet proof as the red one has been!

What an envious driveway!

Thats just plain greedy.

Love this mate. Both my 54s had facelift lights on them when we got them.

Unbelievable mileage mate! Triffic stuff. As for non performance enhancing mods,

maybe rear window tints, anthracite alloys and colour code the grille ;)

Good stuff Cliff! I'll be down your way soon so i'll keep an eye out!

Very nice, but you could have at least got matching colours. :D

Sounds like you've done well there! 38k is very low indeed!

What an envious driveway!

I am indeed aware of how very lucky we are.

Thats just plain greedy.

With my best mate having a yellow one, my mum having an SE, all i need is for my brother to buy a silver one to complete the set! :)

Yeah window tints have been mentioned as being black it's being called the "drug dealing mobile"??

Given my taste for DIY alloy refurbs plans are already afoot on the wheel front.

I like my chrome grill - colour coding looks a bit wrong IMHO

Top work Dan. Should a set of silver 16" spiders fall out of your car into my garage it wouldn;t be the worst thing ever!

Very nice, but you could have at least got matching colours. :D

nah this makes it much easier.

previously it was "shall we take the Fabia or the Ibiza?" so now it's "shall we take the Fabia or the Fabia" muchos confusing so "shall we take the red car or the black car?" simplifies things no end

Sounds like you've done well there! 38k is very low indeed!

It was ineed a very good find and had for a decent price too ;)

Once your brother gets the silver one, you should all go drive in convoy :p

The main rattle I heard when I drove it was from the passenger seat belt buckle against the centre console.

But it does drive very nice indeed, just like a new one. It has had a very easy life.

;)

Do it!!

It'll be the antithesis of your red VRS with black alloys....nice one!

Nice garage u got there. Whats better than a fabia vrs? 2 fabia vrs's :D

Good find u got there, cant be many fabia vrs's left with 38k on the clock.

Also mine is a 54 but was registered in jan 2005 came with FL lights and asz engine.

Lol thats funny, i was thinking red on black as the next little project, but more of a solid red rather than metallic. Recently finished a slightly less exciting project and waiting for the car to come back so i can put it on and post some pics :D

Congrats on the car btw :)

the irony of red car > black wheels and black car > red wheels isn't lost on me!

First extended time spent with the car this weekend during a 600 mile trip to pastyland and back to see family at Easter.

Already now rounded the change off the mileage and pushed on into the 39k bracket!

A few interesting points have rasied their heads:

Wheel wobble at cruising speed which disappeared following a wheels balance (to be reimbursed by the dealer who sold me the car)

The aircon hisses like a baddun - which again will be investigated by the dealer under warranty.

Finally after a couple of spirited bouts of acceleration the aluminimum pedal cover fell off!

I slid it back on and laughed it off.

Full accelaration felt like there was some resitance in the pedal and during another back road drive it proceeded to fall off again!

Slotted back on more firmly and then the weekend finished.

Upon returning home and comparing footweels between red and black confirmed something was up and underfoot it felt like the wheel arch was creased.

There was no visible damage to inner arch liner from outside nor the sill etc but upon peeling back the carpet to investigate i found 2 large lumps of wood!!

They were protruding enough to catch on the very top corner of the throttle as you pushed it all the way down.

I can but assume someone somewhere along the line tried to created some sort of pikey traction control/throttle stop to limit over eager accelaration.

very odd!

Other than that though the black car is performing superbly - gets dirty bloody quickly though!!! :(

I have had a few beers so the quality might not be the best... However, you get the idea - Might need to make look more like 17's and not 18's :

Thanks Rob - maybe lay off the booze though ;)

After 10 days and almost 800 miles the new black car already needed a wash (shock horror)

It's all now back to shiny goodness but i'm not sure if i'm more annoyed with my own poor car washing skills or bird ****!

clean right??

IMG_6755.jpg

one bird poop removed but oh feck it!

IMG_6750.jpg

Time to find some black polish and undo my handiwork!!

Any suggestions on a decent product?

Oh dear, could try some scratch x maybe? I have a machine polisher if your unsuccessful.
