MPG figures

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone have (real!) mpg figures for the following Octavias?

2007 (07) 1.9 TDI DSG Hatch

2008 (08) 2.0 TDI manual Hatch

I'm trying to get a fair idea of what to expect if I buy one of these - I need to make a pretty quick decision. The Skoda dealers just quote 2012 figures, which don't include a 1.9 TDI DSG, and I'm not sure if the latest 2.0 TDI manual uses a different type of engine that the 2008 model.

Thanks

Mark

I got a calculated 45 mpg out of my 1.9 Tdi DSG when I had it, that was over 50K miles.

57reg 2.0 TDi PD140 6 sp manual hatch, mainly clear roads:

Short runs cold weather: 46-48 MPG

Short runs warm weather : 51-52 MPG

Longer run, engine fully warmed up: 53-56 MPG

Motorway, steady 70-75 : 57MPG

Autobahn ;) 50-51 MPG

All of the above from actual calculations, the dash display was 8% optimistic (now corrected)

Nick, that's a good return on 70-75mph on the motorway. My pd105 returns 48mpg, but I am guessing the extra gear makes all the difference. Fingers crossed I can get a Superb pd170 in 2/3 years time and get that extra gear

I've had a few runs from Lincs to Manchester airport & back over the M62 and thats where I can get 57 MPG when its quiet, although in fairness 57 was the highest, I think the lowest I had was about 54-55.

Mind you my old 5 speed Xsara 2.0 HDi used to get 60+ MPG on the same journey!

Short runs around town (up to 6 miles-rarely though) -32-36mpg

Longer runs- 24 mile each way commute on slowish A roads - 50 mpg overall

Motorway steady 75 mph - 49 mpg (330 miles each way last weekend up to Tayside)

Autobahn- as low as 32 mpg fully laden with push bikes on the tow bar.

Never bettered 50 mpg on any long run even when pootling along at 50 mph across the south Lincolnshire plains.

Blimey! You are remembering to release the handbrake aren't you? ;)

TBH though your figures are closer to what I've seen quoted for the PD140 by other people.

Nevertheless I wouldn't have said I was a particularly economical driver. I've never had less than 45 MPG even in very cold weather but I think the relative lack of traffic or large hills round here does help. I've checked the fuel consumption at every fill up since I bought the car and tweaked the fuel computer with VCDS so its near enough dead on accurate now.

How many miles has yours got on it? Mines at 52k now.

On the Octy 2.0 TDI CR 140PS DPF my average is around 56-58mpg. The mpg indicator seems to read about 10% high I would say. Town driving I will average about 48, motorway at 70mph probably around 60mpg.

Return journey from West Yorkshire to London and back today saw over 55mpg in my pd Scout.

~ 43,000miles. I'm pretty pleased to be getting 50mpg overall. My previous car was a petrol 140hp Hyundai SIII coupe- and that returned 37mpg on the same commute at the same speed. My old 5 speed Passat 100ps diesel got ~47mpg. Steady speeds on indulating roads just seem to show low mpg [30-40] figures reflected in the full to full manual calculations. I can get 60mpg coming home with a lot of zero loud pedal downhill.

I take no real notice of those figures ie I can show 65/70 on 85 mile runs on motorways so here is mine for 6years and 47000 miles , every litre put in and about 6000 miles towing caravan works out at 42 mpg. Octavia Elegance 140 bhp dsg hatch.
