Castrol SLX Longlife II Oil

Featured Replies

Just picked some of this up for me Octy from Halfords at

Presumably you need a spec VW 506 01 (fully synthetic) oil for a PD engine on variable service intervals? They are all pretty expensive but you might be able to buy a suitable oil a bit cheaper through oilman who has Group Buys from time to time. Alternatively keep an eye open for special offers on SLX II from Halfords.

Lasts twice as long, so its gonna cost more aint it.

every 3-6 months they put this oil on special, i buy it when it's on special usually about 25-30 quid i paid 25 last time, time b4 30... trouble is we all leave everything till last minute i paid

Just as a side note, the bog 5 litre cans of Castrol fit nicely in the storage thing on the right of the boot. Unfortunately they're too heavy and then break the aforementioned storage thing.

Those storage things are very fragile. My old vRS had one, and I broke it really quickly - sad to hear they haven't made them any stronger on the Octy II. I haven't managed to break mine yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.....

You can always get this spec oil from us, at erm less of a cost.

Just drop me a mail for a price list.

Cheers

No my dealer has never got shirty about it, they have to put in the oil recommended for the car be it mine or there's as they tick the bit that says oil fitted if they do this(and dealer stamp it) they are agreeing that it has been serviced to specification.

additionally my dealer also supplies a check list with all bits ticked including type of oil fitted.

since new eu legislation as long as your car is serviced to manufacturer spec it does not matter who services it. to stop warrenty issues (like prove it was serviced to skoda spec) i always got a skoda dealer to service it. you could change the oil/filter yourself but you leave yourself open should the warrenty need to come into play.
