Coming/leaving home fog lights?

Featured Replies

I've got xenon's on the Scout and I'm a bit concerned about shortening their lifespan with the coming/leaving home function. Therefore is it possible for a dealer to reconfigure the car to use the fog lights for that instead, as per, say, an A4? If not then should I be worried about xenon's and this function or not?

I don't think the dealers software has the ability to do it.

VDCS actually allows for more 'tweaking' and it is possible using VCDS...

I agree. I don't think it's possible with VAS, but this option is do-able with VCDS, for FL cars like yours.

My Dealer did my FL vRS for me, Have fog's instead now as CH /LH

Sometimes I think the problem is that if the dealers can't work out how to do various changes, or the method of doing it isn't communicated to them by Skoda it is far easier for them to claim 'it can't be done'.

Perhaps VAS allows a little more access than we realise but Skoda limit the amount of information they provide to prevent dealers changing things they'd rather they didn't?

Either way from what vectra1 says it looks like you now have more scope to have the change made!

That might be right, perhaps in the same way that so far it hasn't been possible to activate the second rear fog light on facelift models?

Second fog light can not be activated. I asked them while getting the other settings changed

Can this not be done on pre-facelift models?

Thanks

Mike

Not found a way yet Mike. Really wish it was possible, as I'd re-activate LH again!

Have talked to Dana at Ross-Tech about it, but nothing so far.

What setting do you go into in vcds to change from headlight activation to the foglights??

Thanks for the info chaps. I'll try my local dealer first and if not look at the VCDS option. Am I right to be concerned about the lifespan of the xenon's being affected by CH/LH? If so then I'll turn them off in maxidot.

can coming home lights be activated on pre face?

Yes

......but unless you've got the light sensor, it'll be every time you lock the car, including the middle of the day. :)

Coming/Leaving Home Lights via foglights:-

Control Module > [09] Central elec / Coding / Long coding helper / Byte 17/ Bit 3, tick the box.

Exit

is this the same for pre face models ?

As Mike says, the foglights can't be employed for CH/LH on a pre-FL.

You can code up the dipped beam to do it though, whether you have a light/rain sensor or not.

i tried dipped beam yesterday they worked fine , did see the fog option but did not try it.

Seems to only work with the newer controllers, found on the FL.

Chcek the link for a trick that will work on FL but not for pre FL, I had tried on my pre FL and didn't work
