pioneer avh5700dvd wiring help

Featured Replies

Hi guys, apologies if this has been covered before. I'm having a bit of trouble installing an aftermarket head unit to my Mk1 Fabia vRS. The unit is the pioneer AVH-P5700DVD flip out monitor.

Firstly I plugged the standard connector from the car into the head units plug, to find that the unit's security light flashes on the front of the deck, but doesn't power on at all.

Secondly after doing a bit of reading I had noticed that the red ACC wire from the deck is not connected to anything, so I decided to connect it to the yellow cable (the one with the cap on, as highlighted in the wiring diagram). This has managed to power up the unit fully, but now it doesn't retain memory.

I'm a total newbie when it comes to this and so would appreciate some help- I've included a link of the wiring diagram below

Many thanks,

H

you should connect the red wire to yellow and the yellow to red as VAG cars seem to be backwards so you need to reverse the wires....hope you understand what i mean cant explain lol

Hi c4sh, I had another look at it today, basically if i connect 5 to 2, Then 3 is left alone since there is no other wire to connect to. So my current set up is as follows:

Do you think i need an adapter of some sort?

Many thanks

I cant really see pics as im on my phone so abit small ....

The red and yellow wire should both have a joint in them so you just swap the red and yellow over ill have a look at your pics when i get home mate

From what i can see you have no red wire in the iso block and a scotch lock connected ... like i said ill look later when i get home

Hi c4sh, i've taken a few shots of the wiring:

pic 1: pioneer wiring

pic 2: pioneer block (from below) when connected to fabia blocks

pic 3: fabia wiring (from top connected to pioneer block)

pic 4: fabia block from top.

I've also noticed pin 7 is'nt connected to anything once plugged into the pioneer loom... could this be the cause?

Cheers

Er whoeva had this before has chopped the loom about there should be a red wire under the black that would connect to the other yellow, looks like there is other wires missing...if you look at the plug i put on yours should be like that ....

My suggestion would be to buy another iso block for the stereo unless you want to do it yourself...if it was me i would add a red wire in where its missing and connect to the yellow and go from there but before you add a wire remove the scotch lock and seperate the two wires then if the headunit powers on and keeps the stations we can sort the rest after...if you want kwicker answeres pm me a mobile number and i can text back pretty quick :-)

If you get really stuck you can send me the loom and i can sort it for you...( have an identical loom in the garage from my spare hu ) but i can probs talk you through most of it

Problem solved thanks to c4sh- no wire was connected to pin 7 of the fabia block, from the pioneer block. After connecting the wire, the red and yellow wires had to be switched in order for the unit to retain its memory.

Thanks again c4sh!

Np like i said any probs drop me a text :-)
