I have my fabia vrs remapped to 180bhp on standard alloys and standard suspension and a full milltek exhaust system and as you can imagine its quite nippy! However, my cousin who has a 2003 ibiza tdi 130 remapped to 180 with a full decat exhaust system sitting reasonably low on 17s feels much quicker than my vrs when you sit in it but my fabia vrs is faster yet doesnt give you the immense pull feel that the ibiza does... Why is this? Is it because of the shape of the car, seating position of the car, the height of the car :S

Probably because the suspension is alot harder resulting in less body roll ect. .

Different maps? He sounds like he has a torque spike early on in the rev range, while fun to drive on it isn't fun when you get the bill for a clutch.

Yee maybe you're right his map is more instant as opposed to mine by where all the power comes in at 2k+

Also what year is your fabia? If it is newer than an 04 then it's possible it has a different gearbox to the Ibiza.

I know on mine it drive very similar to how you have described the ibiza. It has a huge lump of pull and is very fun to drive. It also pulls very hard at half throttle which makes it feel very fast. Don't know if the Fabia is the same.

I've always found that being a passenger feels quicker than driving as you're not 100% expecting it.

Also there will be lots of small differences between the two cars. Two maps are never the same, as said before, gear ratios may be slightly different etc etc.

If you are sitting in the passenger seat when you are being driven it always feels like the car is faster than when you drive it. Due to not knowing when the throttle is being punched

My fabia is 2005. Saying that i have heard of pre 04 fabias having different gear ratios but whether thats better i dont know?

Yep ive driven both, been a passenger in both but the ibiza still feels way faster... Bit of a bummer when my cars actually quicker then the ibiza lol

You reckon lowering the car and fitting a rarb will improve the feel?

Coilovers will reduce body roll so when you boot it the car wont lurch backward and should feel faster
