Fabia not turning over

Featured Replies

Ok, fabia has decided not to start this week. Scanned and cleared all codes, the only ones left are ones that are "long standing" shall we say and wouldn't affect the car starting.

Bump starts fine, ignition comes on like normal, just won't turn over, no noise nothing. Any ideas before I roll it into the canal?

Cheers

Dead starter motor?

Dead starter motor?

Or even something simpler like a loose/bad connection, blown fuse, broken wire, or battery problem.

Yeah I was kinda after more specifics to check at home before I sent it to the garage. Fuses checked, new battery fitted.

Cheers

Remove the small wire from the starter motor. Connect the + lead of a meter to this wire and the other to battery -ve. Get someone to turn the key.

Do you get 12V?

If so, it is the starter motor.

Hi, had same most recently on my Felly. Traced to poor connection on starter motor. Good luck.

Thank you all for the replies, turns out it was a poor connection on the earth lead for the starter motor, temp repair in place while I wait for a new one.

Cheers all

Matt

The earth lead isn't just for the starter motor, it's the main (and only I think) engine earth.

All sensors that earth out through the block such as the oil pressure switch would also have been giving issue.

That explains the oil light coming on when it was first bumped too then. :sun:
