Replacement Front Speakers (VRS)

Featured Replies

One of the front speakers has blown, music now sounds awful, so I need a replacement.

Are there any slightly better replacements that will fit without fitting adapters?

If not, are they the same OEM standard units that are fitted in any other VAG cars (e.g. Polo or Golf)? This will make searching for replacement a bit easier.

I want to keep the standard headunit.

Thanks

Seriously...

1) No, slightly longer answer, no, not without gutting the existing speaker/spacer and using the carcase to house the new speaker (only 18mm between the door carrier and the window bar). Plus any reasonable replacement would have a proper crossover plus you'd switch the tweeters... Fit MDF spacer or Golf MK4 spacers. Can then fit a 6.5" component set.

2) I don't know but eBay and similar suggests "yes".

Tempted to ask "are you mad?" about the OEM h/u but I quite like it too. One popular option is to upgrade the h/u to one with more oomph and EQ and keep a setandard speaker setup.

Yes I have been drinking this evening. :)

Could be that the reason the speaker is blown is you used the OE head unit.
