Pictures from underneath Octavia 4x4?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have pictures from underneath an Octy 4x4 please?

I want to see the 4x4 system so I can compare for my Fabia 4x4 project.

I need to see how many Octy 4x4 bits I am likely to be able to use and how many parts I will need to obtain from Rallycross Fabia racers.

I am looking at a Fabia 4x4 Rallycross car at the weekend.

Thank you, :)

Richard.

Sorry none to hand.

Think you really need to have a 1st hand look round a haldex subframed car to be able to work out how/if it could all be fitted.

You'd need to be cutting the majority of the rear floor away, and work out how to reduce the width of the haldex unit to fit.

IMHO you'd be better looking at mk2 syncro Golf as the 4x4 donor vehicle. Stick with a lighter weight mechanical 4x4 system, ideally with 3x plate diffs. No electrics to work out and wire up.

Michael @ Jabbasport has built a few VW 4x4 one-offs, worth having a chat with him

Are these pics of any help?

how wide is the octy compared to a fabia? if you are going to be fitting wide arch kits etc then you could shoehorn the rear floorpan in and fabricate the tunnel etc

If i were going to do this I would be seriously thinking five cylinders instead of four :D

Thanks SimonJ, those pics show pretty much the same layout as the Rallycross mkI Fabia other than it has a custom rear subframe made up.

Very helpful.
