A few annoying niggles...

Featured Replies

Last little bits of trouble with the ride.

Any solutions/speculation/experience appreciated!

1) the passenger side front suspension has started squeaking. Getting progressively squeakier. Also knocks a bit. I'm guessing bushes on something, maybe drop links..?

2) handbrake button rattles while driving. Is there potentially a way to tighten/replace it?

3) driver's side rear door rarely locks from the inside lock button, but locks on the key. Bounces down and then back up. If you push it down and then lock, it bounces up again... weird. Locks perfectly off the fob.

4) passenger side door doesn't activate interior light. Microswitch gone in door?

try arb bushes first for knocks - is a common item to wear

grease the handbrake button - that was the fix i saw

get vagcom on for rear door - prob a door microswitch away

ditto for passenger door - or the multiplug needs cleaned and resealed

Mine was knocking on the test drive before I bought it. Dealer had the anti-roll bar bushes replaced and it fixed the problem. Probably worth checking the bushes at the back of the front suspension arms too.

I fitted a vRS leather hand brake cover on mine and this has a hard plastic inner where the button comes through and it started to rattle. I pushed some thin strips of "silent tape" down between the button and the cover and that cured it.

As already suggested your other two niggles are probably micro switch or multiplug related.

Cheers bods. :)

Si, mine's got the leather handbrake gaitor too so that's probably the problem. Stupid thing!

I have a feeling it's the microswitch in the passenger door lock, but the rear door is doing my nut in! I was wondering if it's maybe a corroded wire in the control module in the driver's door..?

grease the handbrake button - that was the fix i saw

yeah I had the same issue - grease worked to get rid of it - pushed some grease in around the button on the handbrake, wiped remainder off with a tissue, done the same thing a few days later and the rattle has stopped ever since
