MAF Problem - what the hell is going on?

Featured Replies

I've been running my car for a week now without my MAF connected because it was hesitant and felt very strange below 2krpm, especially when it was cold! Leaving the MAF disconnected resolved this. So I ordered a new MAF from ebay - part no. 0280 218 063?

As soon as I connect this new MAF up the car runs like a bag of ****! Exhaust popping and spluttering all over the place. Lumpy as hell!

The even stranger thing is when I removed the bosch element from the MAF that I already had on the car there was no hotwire on it!! wtf

I'm really confused at the moment. Can someone help?

Thanks,

Samuel

ebay MAF's have been known to be dodgy, you're probably better off getting one from a main dealer.

Erm yeh but the thing thats even dodgier or more worrying is why hasn't the one that was already on the car got a hotwire?? See pics i've attached, the one with the green O ring is the original off the car and the new one you can quite clearly see has a hotwire on it...

http://tinypic.com/r/sl7gjs/5 - original

inypic.com/r/1z6r6d/5 - new ebay one

i got a spare genuine maf.... thought my car had a maf fault and replaced it, the fault still remained..... open to offers via pm on it...

my symptoms were same, but seems mine is a faulty lambda sensor... stil yet to replace this... but everything else was done, eg throttle boody clean, coolant temp sensor, maf, coils, plugs, fuel filter.....

Man ive been there the eBay maf are rubbish and they don't send up fault codes! I was at my wits end tryin to find out what was wrong with my car and I was over lookin the maf cause it was new but it was a ebay one they're a waste of time get a Bosch genuine and you won't look back!

M8 why didnt u say. I have a spare genuine MAF in the boot of my car. Make me an offer. Im only 5 mins away.
