Main beam fault UPDATE adaptive xenons

Featured Replies

Fortunately (or hopefully at mo) after partially removing bumper on a4, (after removing wheel & liner), was able to remove headlamp unit & through minimal disassembly, have found a loose mini plug (on a piece of circuit board) that connects to the solenoid which activates the shutter. I lifted the plug gently, applied small amount of silicone underneath, let it set & temporarily re-connected to car & IT WORKS

I put a little more silicone on to hold it better & gonna leave that overnight to cure & let any fumes evaporate off the silicone.

Fairly sure it is good now, it is only the main beam shutter after all. Hopefully saved me opening unit up & performing surgery. I will try it again tomorrow before re-installing (weather permitting).

This has possibly saved me best part of a grand with vat for a new unit to be fitted, as audi said probably neccessary, but also said these units are normally bulletproof.

Hope this encourages others to maybe look into problems themselves as most of the info is on tinternet somewhere.

Thanks for listening (alright, reading then).........................Well Chuffed.
