Folding Question?

Featured Replies

Now that I'm using XP more regularly I've noticed a couple of differences between the client for this and the one I had on the windows 98 machine. The biggest one being the counter, which tells you the number of seconds each "frame" of the WU is taking, which can vary depending on how hard the PC is being used.

Why would this amount of time vary because I recently crunched a 2500 frame WU, and each frame took an average of 1 minute 45 seconds to 2 minutes. Then in a few hours it crunched a 1000 frame WU at an average rate of about 50 seconds a frame! And now its started again on a 2500 frame WU and is crunching again quicker than my first 2500 WU at about 1 minute 20 seconds a frame... Something I'm missing? What dictates the frame speed, or is it just dependant on what folding you're given to do? :)

Sorry to bring this up but I have reinstalled the folding on my computer and now the client only hows the thingy moving about and no details of units done/time to complete.

How do I get it back?

thanks,

Ben

I think it was removed from the later version of the gui client to speed things up a little. You can see how far you have got by looking at the FAHLOG.TXT file located in the installation folder.
